A SpiceJet passenger on a Mumbai to Bengaluru flight had an unfortunate experience, spending the entire journey locked inside the aircraft’s lavatory. The airline has offered an apology and compensation to the affected passenger. The event, which occurred due to a malfunctioning door, has caused considerable reaction.
The passenger’s escape was made possible after the flight touched down in Bengaluru, with ground staff and engineers opening the jammed door. The incident happened on a Monday night flight that took off from Mumbai at 2:10 AM, two hours later than its scheduled time of 10:55 PM. A passenger seated in seat 14D entered the restroom shortly after takeoff and was unable to get out as the door lock failed, leading to a mid-air problem. The passenger tried, and the crew also tried to unlock the door, but it was unsuccessful.
The crew then decided to provide some comfort to the distressed passenger. A handwritten note was slipped under the toilet door. It asked the passenger not to panic and to remain seated on the toilet until landing in Bengaluru. The image of the note went viral on social media, with many people finding it humorous and making comments about the handwriting. The flight landed in Bengaluru at around 3:45 AM. Shortly after landing, airport engineers opened the door. The airline expressed regret over the incident and apologized to the passenger for the inconvenience caused.
