A SpiceJet passenger on a flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru endured an unfortunate incident, finding themselves confined within the aircraft’s restroom throughout the journey. The airline has apologized and reportedly offered compensation for the experience, which has become a topic of widespread interest.
The passenger’s unexpected ‘imprisonment’ ended upon the flight’s arrival at Bengaluru airport. Ground staff and engineers swiftly acted to unlock the malfunctioning toilet door.
The incident occurred on a flight that was delayed by two hours, departing Mumbai at 2:10 AM, even though it was scheduled for 10:55 PM.
Shortly after takeoff, a passenger seated in seat 14D entered the restroom and was unable to exit due to a jammed lock. The crew’s efforts to open the door were unsuccessful.
To help the passenger, the crew slipped a handwritten note through the gap, asking them to stay seated on the toilet seat until the plane landed in Bengaluru.
The crew’s note was shared online, drawing a lot of attention. Many online users thought the situation was funny, while some complimented the crew member’s handwriting.
The flight landed in Bengaluru at around 3:45 AM. The engineer on the ground was able to open the door. The airline has since issued an apology for the incident.
