Mahindra is preparing a major upgrade for the Bolero, one of its flagship SUVs, scheduled for release in 2026. The redesigned Bolero will maintain its signature boxy design, incorporating a new front fascia with vertical-slatted grille, integrated DRLs, and LED headlights. The vehicle’s side profile will be refreshed with a dual-tone alloy wheel design and body cladding. A key development will be the introduction of Mahindra’s new ‘Freedom NU’ flexible platform, expected to be revealed on August 15, 2025, providing a more modern underpinning for the SUV. The interior will feature an all-black theme, a new three-spoke steering wheel, and an updated infotainment system with a larger touchscreen display. The dashboard will also undergo design changes. The semi-digital instrument cluster will include a large color TFT MID and dual-zone climate control, with a potential full digital driver display on top-tier trims. The 2026 Bolero could incorporate a Level-2 ADAS suite, offering features like forward collision warning, auto emergency braking, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition. Additional features such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, a powered driver’s seat, push-button start, an auto-dimming IRVM, keyless entry, ventilated front seats, and ambient lighting are expected. The engine options are likely to include the existing 1.5-liter mHawk diesel engine, combined with a 5-speed manual transmission and a rear-wheel-drive setup. Production of the new Bolero will take place at Mahindra’s new Chakan plant, with an initial production target of approximately 1.2 lakh units.
