The Mahindra Thar, known for its popularity, especially among younger buyers, is preparing to launch a refreshed version of its 3-door off-road SUV in the coming weeks. While the specific launch date hasn’t been announced, the updated Thar is anticipated to arrive by the end of September 2025. Test runs of the new 2025 Mahindra Thar have revealed many details about the changes.
The interior will feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system running on the latest UI, a new driver display, and a new electric steering wheel. Furthermore, the Thar will also borrow features from the Thar Rocks, like a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a wireless phone charger, rear disc brakes, and Level-2 ADAS.
Stylistically, the 2025 Mahindra Thar will be inspired by the Thar Rocks. The front fascia will be updated with a new grille design featuring double-stacked slats, modified bumpers, and new headlamps. Other design updates include new alloy wheels, new taillamps, and a redesigned rear bumper. Mahindra might also introduce new exterior color options. Currently, the SUV is available in various colors such as Deep Grey, Red Rage, Everest White, Desert Fury, Deep Forest, and Stealth Black.
The engine options are expected to remain the same, giving customers the same choices. There will be a 152 bhp 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine, a 119 bhp 1.5-liter turbo diesel engine, and a 130 bhp 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine. The transmission options will also be the same. The refreshed Thar 3-door will be available in both RWD and 4WD configurations, as is the case with the current models.
