The Mahindra Thar (3-door), a popular lifestyle off-road SUV, is undergoing a major upgrade. The launch of the facelifted model is now planned for September 2025, earlier than the initially projected 2026 release. Test runs have provided insights into the forthcoming changes.
The 2025 Mahindra Thar will integrate design cues from the Thar Rocks. The exterior will feature a redesigned grille with double-stacked slats, new headlights, and a modified bumper. The side profile will remain largely unchanged, except for new alloy wheels. The rear will include a new bumper and redesigned taillights. Additional exterior updates might include new color options.
The interior is also set for improvements. The 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift could offer a larger touchscreen infotainment system, an updated digital instrument cluster, and a new electric steering wheel. The features may also include ventilated front seats from the Thar Rocks, wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, rear disc brakes, and Level-2 ADAS.
The existing engine options will be carried over: a 2.0-liter turbo petrol, 1.5-liter turbo diesel, and 2.2-liter turbo diesel. The petrol engine will deliver 152 bhp, and the diesel engines will produce 119 bhp and 130 bhp, respectively. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Both RWD and 4WD systems will be available.
