In a move designed to benefit consumers, Maruti Suzuki has reduced the prices of multiple car models. This decision comes in response to the recent reduction in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates. The revised prices, effective from September 22, 2025, are expected to boost sales, particularly during the festive period.
Maruti Suzuki clarified that the price reductions will be in addition to other discounts offered by the company.
Model-specific price reductions include:
* S-Presso: Up to ₹1.29 lakh reduction
* Alto K10: Up to ₹1.07 lakh reduction
* Ertiga: Up to ₹46,000 reduction
* Fronx and Brezza (SUVs): Up to ₹1.12 lakh reduction
Smaller cars will see more significant price decreases. The S-Presso’s price will drop by 12.6% to 24%, the Alto K10 by 10.6% to 20%, the Celerio by 8.6% to 17%, and the WagonR by 8.7% to 14%.
According to Maruti Suzuki’s sales and marketing representatives, the price reductions are intended to address the decline in small car sales, which were affected by higher prices. They anticipate that the combined impact of GST reductions, revised tax structures, and reduced interest rates will improve market conditions and encourage more individuals to purchase cars. With only 34 cars per 1,000 people in India, the company aims to expand car ownership across the country.
The company reported an 8.8% decrease in passenger vehicle sales in August 2025. The new prices are designed to stabilize the entry-level segment and promote car purchases. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki guarantees that the GST reduction will be applied to service and maintenance parts, lowering the total cost of ownership.
