Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading automotive company, is aiming for a significant export target of over 400,000 vehicles in the fiscal year 2025-26 (FY26). The company has already demonstrated strong export performance, having shipped more than 200,000 units overseas between April and September 2025. A senior executive from the company confirmed these figures.
In September 2025, Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s exports reached 42,204 units, reflecting a 52% increase compared to the 27,728 units exported in September of the previous year. Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer (Corporate Affairs) at Maruti Suzuki India, revealed that the company exported about 110,000 vehicles in the first quarter (Q1) and over 207,000 units in the first six months (April-September). This progress indicates that Maruti Suzuki is on track to achieve its 400,000-unit export target.
Bharti emphasized that Maruti Suzuki’s export volume is more than double that of the second-largest exporter in the country. He highlighted the competitive landscape of the Indian market, which includes approximately 18 automotive companies. However, Maruti Suzuki’s export performance significantly surpasses its competitors. He drew a parallel between Maruti Suzuki’s strong domestic market presence and its growing success in international markets. He noted that the company now exports over 100,000 units in a single quarter, compared to around 100,000 units exported annually just four years ago. In FY21, the company exported 96,139 units.
Moreover, the company exported 6,068 units of the electric eVITARA in August and September 2025. Bharti stated that this is a strong signal for ‘Make in India’ and showcases the increasing global recognition of Indian-made cars. He also mentioned that recent Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) have been beneficial for export growth.
The Fronx, Jimny, Swift, Baleno, and Dzire models were the top exports during the first half of FY26. South Africa, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Chile, and Colombia are the major international markets for Maruti Suzuki.
