Maruti Suzuki has entered the competitive SUV market with the launch of the Victoris, positioning it as a direct competitor to the Hyundai Creta. The unveiling occurred recently, with the Victoris marking a significant step for Maruti as its first model to incorporate Level-2 ADAS technology. The vehicle is intended for export, with India serving as the manufacturing base for global distribution.
The Victoris offers a range of powertrain options similar to those found in the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. These include a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine available with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Select trims provide the option of a four-wheel drive system paired with the petrol engine. Furthermore, a CNG variant is offered, utilizing the same engine configuration, but exclusively with a manual gearbox.
One of the notable features of the Victoris is the integration of an underbody CNG tank, ensuring that the CNG variant retains the same boot space as the petrol model. The strong hybrid engine is sourced from the Grand Vitara and is now coupled with locally assembled lithium-ion batteries. Performance figures show the petrol engine delivering 101 bhp and 137 Nm of torque, while the CNG variant produces 87 bhp and 121 Nm of torque. The strong hybrid powertrain generates 91 bhp and 122 Nm of torque.
The Victoris showcases a sporty and dynamic exterior design, characterized by a vertical hood, angular LED headlamps, and a prominent chrome strip on the front. It is equipped with dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels and is available in a palette of 10 colors, including new options such as Eternal Blue and Mystic Green. The rear design incorporates full-width LED taillamps and a gesture-controlled powered tailgate. The taillights share a design resemblance with the Maruti Swift, featuring a more pronounced 3D effect.
Inside, the Victoris offers a choice of two interior trim levels. The dashboard features a layered design with 64-color ambient lighting. The vehicle also includes a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a touchscreen infotainment system with pre-installed applications, including Alexa. This infotainment system supports over-the-air updates and Suzuki Connect, offering over 60 distinct features. Additional features encompass a dual-pane sunroof, a PM 2.5 air filter, an 8-speaker surround Infinity sound system with Dolby Atmos, and an 8-way powered and ventilated driver’s seat.
Safety is a priority for the Victoris, as evidenced by its 5-star ratings from both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP. Standard safety equipment includes 6 airbags, electronic stability control, and seat belt reminders. Furthermore, the Victoris is equipped with advanced safety technologies, such as a heads-up display, a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS, optimized for Indian road conditions.
