
Mercedes-Benz’s iconic G-Class SUV has achieved a significant production milestone, with the Graz, Austria plant producing its 600,000th unit. This landmark vehicle is a G 580 model that incorporates EQ technology and boasts an Obsidian Black Metallic finish. Introduced in 1979, the G-Class continues to impress with its enduring style and performance.
The G-Class’s design has seen updates while retaining its signature look. Features such as round headlights, a square body, and an exposed spare wheel ensure its classic appeal. The latest G-Class combines robust features with an eye-catching design, including the fully electric G 580 EQ model.
Mercedes-Benz has evolved the G-Class, turning it into a customizable luxury vehicle. Through the MANUFAKTUR program, which started in 2019, customers can personalize their G-Class. Since 2024, over a million combinations have been available, including almost 20,000 paint options.
Notably, about 90% of customers have opted for features via the MANUFAKTUR program. The G-Class is celebrated for its off-road capabilities, including all-wheel drive, 100% locking differentials, and a strong ladder-frame chassis. Advanced driver assistance systems and infotainment upgrades are now standard.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is a five-seater, full-size SUV. It starts at ₹2.55 crore and is available in two variants. These variants have a 2,925 cc engine with one automatic transmission. It has 9 airbags, and 241 mm of ground clearance (unladen). There are five color options available.
