Mercedes-Benz has introduced the CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe in the Indian market, a luxury two-door car that combines the performance attributes of the C-Class with the premium features of the E-Class. The car, priced at approximately 1.35 crore rupees, is available for immediate delivery throughout India. The engine is a 3.0-liter M 256M inline 6-cylinder petrol engine, featuring twin-turbocharging and an electric compressor. The engine’s design incorporates revised inlet and outlet channels, new piston rings, improved injection, and a larger exhaust gas turbocharger. These enhancements increase boost pressure to 1.5 bar, delivering 449 bhp between 5,800-6,100 rpm and 560 Nm of torque between 2,200-5,000 rpm. An overboost function can provide up to 600 Nm of torque for 12 seconds. A second-generation starter generator (ISG) integrated into the gearbox housing provides an additional 23 bhp and 205 Nm, supporting the 48-volt mild-hybrid system, which enables features like electric boost, load point shifting, sailing, and start-stop functionality. The AMG Speed Shift TCT 9G automatic transmission is designed with close-ratio gear ratios to optimize the engine’s power delivery. It includes rev-matched downshifts, multiple downshifts for quick acceleration, and adaptive shift programming that adjusts to the selected drive mode. In ‘Sport+’ and manual modes, shifts are very fast, while ‘Comfort’ mode optimizes efficiency. The CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, with a top speed limited to 250 km/h; this can optionally be increased to 270 km/h. The cabin features leather and microcut microfiber upholstery, with AMG graphics and contrast stitching. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster offers various display options, including the AMG ‘Supersport’ mode, which centralizes the tachometer and displays performance data like G-force and engine temperature. The 11.9-inch portrait-oriented central touchscreen uses the new MBUX system and supports voice, touch, and steering wheel controls. The interior is enhanced by 64-color ambient lighting.
