Suzuki is preparing to launch its new Victoris SUV on September 3rd. While speculation had suggested the name Escudo, a leak revealed Victoris as the official name. Codenamed Y17 internally, the SUV’s name was briefly visible in search results on Maruti Suzuki’s official website, confirming its identity. The Victoris will slot between the Brezza and Grand Vitara in Maruti Suzuki’s product lineup, utilizing the Global C platform. This platform sharing is intended to help provide competitive pricing. The new SUV is expected to be somewhat larger than the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, and will compete against forthcoming models such as the Kia Seltos facelift, Skoda Kushaq facelift, and Volkswagen Taigun facelift. Suzuki aims to gain a competitive edge through strategic pricing and appealing features. Engine options will likely be sourced from the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder models. These include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 103 PS and 139 Nm of torque. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission, and buyers may have the option of the Suzuki AllGrip AWD system. A 1.5-litre strong-hybrid powertrain will also be on offer. The Victoris will be sold through Suzuki’s Arena dealerships. A CNG variant is anticipated, potentially offering 88 PS in CNG mode. The Hyundai Creta currently dominates the segment. The official unveiling of the Victoris will take place on September 3rd, 2025.
