Nissan is planning a significant product offensive in India, with the introduction of four new vehicles. These include a C-segment SUV, a subcompact MPV, a D-segment SUV, and an A-segment EV. The sub-4 meter MPV is planned to be a rebadged Renault Triber, launching in early 2026. A new mid-size SUV will follow. The new compact SUV, based on the third-generation Renault Duster, is expected to be available in showrooms by mid-2026. The new SUV will compete in the mid-size SUV segment, against vehicles like the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Hyundai Creta, Toyota Hyryder, and Kia Seltos. The Nissan Terrano was previously discontinued in India in 2020 due to low sales and a weak dealer network. The new Duster SUV is expected to replace the discontinued Terrano in the Nissan product line. The automaker has yet to announce whether the ‘Nissan Terrano’ name will be revived or if the SUV will launch under a new name. Based on teasers and spy shots, the upcoming mid-size SUV will have a rugged, imposing design. It will likely feature Nissan’s signature grille, inverted L-shaped LED DRLs, and a flat bonnet. The design may include bold shoulder creases, 18-inch alloy wheels with distinctive wheel arches, extensive body cladding, and roof rails. The new Nissan SUV will likely feature an interior design similar to the new Duster, with several premium features. Reports suggest that it might include more features than existing models. Features could include a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, rear AC vents, multiple airbags, ESC, ADAS, and more. The engine options could be taken from the new Renault Duster. This means the new Nissan SUV may offer various petrol engine options, including a hybrid variant which will be released later. A CNG variant may also be available.
