An incident occurred on a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru where a passenger was stuck in the lavatory for the entire flight. The airline apologized to the passenger and is said to have offered a refund, but the event has caused amusement online.
The passenger was freed after the flight landed in Bengaluru, with ground staff and engineers breaking open the locked toilet door.
The incident took place on Monday night. The Mumbai-Bengaluru flight was delayed and took off from Mumbai Airport at 2:10 AM, later than its scheduled departure of 10:55 PM.
A passenger, seated in seat 14D, went to the restroom shortly after takeoff but was unable to open the door due to a jammed lock, creating a mid-air problem. Despite the crew’s efforts, the door wouldn’t budge.
To comfort the distressed passenger, the crew wrote a note and slipped it under the door, advising the passenger not to panic and to remain seated until the plane landed in Bengaluru. The note was shared online, going viral, with many netizens commenting on the humorous situation and the crew member’s handwriting.
The flight landed in Bengaluru at approximately 3:45 AM. Airport engineers opened the lavatory door after landing. The airline has expressed regret and has apologized for the inconvenience caused to the passenger.
