The Renault Duster is gearing up for a market comeback, setting the stage to challenge the Hyundai Creta. Production is set to start in September 2025, with the launch projected for the first half of 2026, possibly in the first quarter. A hybrid version of the Renault Duster is also in development, intended to be released within a year of the petrol model’s market introduction.
In international markets, the vehicle is known as the Renault Boreal. A 7-seater model could be launched by the end of 2026 or during 2027. It’s important to note that this information comes from media reports. Renault India has not issued any official announcements regarding the launch of the Duster hybrid or 7-seater versions. Additionally, Nissan will release its own models of the new Duster and its 7-seater version, featuring some unique specifications.
The new Renault Duster will offer a diverse range of engine options. These include a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.0-liter or 1.3-liter turbo petrol engines, and a strong hybrid engine. Globally, the SUV is available with a 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 94 bhp. This version incorporates two electric motors and a 1.2 kWh battery, providing a combined power output of 140 bhp.
A CNG version of the Renault Duster is also planned. Reports suggest that this CNG option may not be offered directly by the company but through partners such as Minda Westport. Additionally, an electric version of the new Renault Duster is under consideration. With various engine options, the new Duster intends to strongly compete with the Hyundai Creta, which also has plans to release a hybrid version in 2027.
