A passenger on a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru had an uncomfortable flight experience, being stuck inside the plane’s lavatory for the entire journey. The airline apologized to the passenger and reportedly offered a refund, but the incident generated disbelief.
The passenger was eventually freed after the plane landed in Bengaluru. Ground crew and engineers quickly addressed the situation by opening the locked toilet door, which had failed mid-air.
The incident unfolded on a Monday night flight, which was delayed by two hours. The flight was scheduled to depart at 10:55 PM but finally took off at 2:10 AM.
After takeoff, a passenger seated in seat 14D entered the restroom. The door lock jammed, trapping the passenger and leading to a mid-air problem.
Airline staff attempted to unlock the door without success. The crew then decided to communicate with the trapped passenger by slipping a handwritten note under the door, asking them to stay calm and remain in the toilet until landing.
The crew’s note was shared on social media, becoming viral. The incident’s humor prompted user comments, with some noting the handwriting’s quality.
The flight landed in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM. An airport engineer opened the door after the plane landed.
The airline acknowledged the incident and apologized for the passenger’s ordeal.
