An unusual incident occurred on a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru, where a passenger was trapped inside the lavatory for the entire duration of the flight. The aircraft’s door mechanism failed, leaving the passenger confined.
Reports indicate that the flight, which was delayed, took off at 2:10 AM. The passenger entered the restroom shortly after takeoff and was unable to open the door. The crew attempted to assist, but to no avail.
To alleviate the passenger’s distress, the crew penned a note, sliding it under the door. The note requested the passenger to stay seated on the toilet seat until the plane landed in Bengaluru. The message, and the entire incident, quickly went viral.
After the plane landed, ground staff were able to open the door. The airline has since apologized and offered a refund to the passenger.
