A passenger on a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru had an unexpected and uncomfortable experience. The passenger was trapped in the airplane’s restroom for the flight’s entire duration. SpiceJet has since apologized and reportedly offered compensation. The unusual circumstances surrounding the event have left many surprised.
The passenger was finally rescued after the plane landed at the Bengaluru airport. Ground staff and engineers immediately worked to open the toilet door, which had malfunctioned and locked mid-flight.
The incident took place on Monday night. The Mumbai-Bengaluru flight departed from the airport at 2:10 AM, two hours behind its scheduled time of 10:55 PM. The passenger, seated in seat 14D, entered the restroom shortly after takeoff but was unable to exit because of a jammed door.
Both the passenger and the crew attempted to open the door without success. The crew responded by writing a note to the passenger. The note was slipped through the door, asking the passenger to stay calm and remain seated until landing in Bengaluru.
The crew’s note quickly went viral on social media. Many people found the note amusing, and some praised the handwriting. The flight landed in Bengaluru at approximately 3:45 AM. Airport engineers were able to open the door shortly after landing. SpiceJet expressed its regret and apologized to the passenger for the inconvenience.
