An unusual event unfolded on a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru, where a passenger found themselves confined to the aircraft’s restroom for the duration of the flight. The airline has since offered a refund and apologized for the ordeal. The passenger was eventually freed after the plane touched down in Bengaluru.
The ground crew and engineers were required to open the malfunctioning toilet door. The flight, initially scheduled to depart at 10:55 PM, was delayed and took off at 2:10 AM. Shortly after takeoff, a passenger in seat 14D entered the restroom, and the door became jammed, trapping them inside.
Unable to open the door, the crew opted to slide a handwritten note to the passenger, suggesting they remain seated on the toilet until the plane landed. The note gained traction on social media, eliciting amusement from many users. The plane landed in Bengaluru at around 3:45 AM. The airport engineers subsequently opened the door. SpiceJet has issued an apology to the passenger involved.
