
A SpiceJet passenger on a Mumbai to Bengaluru flight found themselves trapped in the airplane’s lavatory for the duration of the journey. The airline has apologized and reportedly offered compensation. The unusual event has been widely discussed online.
The passenger was freed after the plane landed at Bengaluru airport. Ground staff and engineers were able to open the locked toilet door.
The incident happened on Monday night. The flight, which was scheduled to depart at 10:55 PM, was delayed by two hours and took off at 2:10 AM.
The passenger entered the restroom shortly after takeoff. The door lock malfunctioned, trapping the passenger inside. The crew were unable to open the door.
To keep the passenger calm, the crew passed a handwritten note under the door. The note asked the passenger not to panic and to stay seated until the flight landed. The note became popular on social media.
The flight landed in Bengaluru at approximately 3:45 AM. The door was opened by an airport engineer. The airline apologized for the inconvenience.
