Ducati, known for its powerful superbikes, has issued a global recall for the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4 models. The recall is due to a critical rear axle defect that could potentially pose safety risks. To address the issue, the company has begun the process of inspecting and replacing parts on affected motorcycles. In India, the recall affects 393 units, specifically those manufactured between 2018 and 2025. Ducati India is directly contacting customers to provide free rear wheel shaft replacements, prioritizing rider safety and preventing potential accidents. The recall extends beyond India, with Ducati North America recalling over 10,000 units. Reports filed with the NHTSA show 11 recorded cases of axle failure globally, with none occurring in America. The exact cause of the axle defect remains unspecified. However, possibilities include mileage-related problems or torque imbalances on the rear axle, which could arise during wheel or chain adjustments. Ducati has stated that all owners of affected motorcycles will be contacted promptly, and their vehicles will be repaired without cost. This demonstrates the company’s dedication to rider safety and maintaining customer trust.
