Exports of the Suzuki Jimny started five months after its initial release, targeting regions like Latin America and the Middle East. The vehicle experienced robust market reception in Mexico, Australia, and South Africa. Suzuki has maintained the production of the three-door Jimny for export from its Gurgaon plant in Haryana since 2020. Although the Jimny hasn’t performed well in India, it has seen a surge in demand in Japan as the ‘Nomade.’ It was the second SUV exported to Japan after the Suzuki Fronx. Suzuki had to temporarily stop accepting bookings due to 50,000 pre-orders shortly after they began. A selection of Suzuki Jimnys has been allocated to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) for operations along the borders of Arunachal Pradesh and Leh Ladakh. The Jimny can withstand the severe conditions of these regions, including temperatures as low as -45 degrees. Its low-range gearboxes allow it to easily tackle difficult terrains. With a 4×4 powertrain system, including 2WD-high, 4WD High, and 4WD low options, the Jimny is equipped with an AllGrip 4WD system for off-road performance, and it also uses a three-link rigid axle suspension. The Jimny is powered by a 1.5-liter engine, producing 105 BHP and 134Nm of torque. Despite these modest figures, the vehicle’s light body ensures it can easily handle demanding situations. The price of the Jimny starts at Rs 12.76 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.97 lakh. Its small size and light weight make it ideal for off-road use compared to its rivals.
