Tesla has begun its charging infrastructure rollout in India with the opening of its first charging station in Mumbai. The station, operational from August 4, 2025, is located in the One BKC complex in Bandra-Kurla. It features four V4 Supercharging stalls and four Destination Charging stalls to cater to Tesla owners.
Supercharging stalls offer a fast-charging speed of 250 kW, with a charge rate of ₹24 per kilowatt. Destination chargers offer 11 kW charging, costing ₹14 per kilowatt. Tesla plans to open three additional charging stations in India by the end of September 2025, expanding its network to Lower Parel, Thane, and Navi Mumbai. This expansion reflects Tesla’s strategy to provide comprehensive support for electric vehicles.
The Tesla Model Y, a mid-size electric SUV, is available in two variants. The Rear-Wheel Drive variant is priced starting from ₹59.89 lakh, with the Long-Range Rear-Wheel Drive version costing ₹67.89 lakh. Delivery of the base variant is expected in Q3 2025, while the Long-Range variant is scheduled for Q4 (October-December). Specific delivery dates are still pending.
Tesla officially entered the Indian market on July 15 with the launch of the Model Y, priced from ₹59.89 lakh, and the opening of an experience center. The company previously delayed its entry due to high import duties; however, the Model Y is now sold as a CBU from the Shanghai plant.
