Tesla is reinforcing its commitment to the Indian electric vehicle market through the unveiling of its second retail center. The new Tesla Experience Centre is set to launch on August 11 at the WorldMark 3 campus in Aerocity, Delhi. This location is designed to serve customers within the National Capital Region, a strategically important area for India’s EV initiatives.
The opening of the new center closely follows the inauguration of Tesla’s first showroom in Mumbai’s Maker Maxity Mall on July 15. The Mumbai launch saw the participation of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who welcomed Tesla and encouraged the company to consider establishing R&D and manufacturing units in the state. Construction of the Aerocity center is nearing completion, with the monthly rent reportedly around Rs 25 lakh. Images of the outlet have been shared on social media, reflecting the brand’s premium positioning. In India, Tesla currently sells only the Model Y, with prices starting from Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Model Y offers two versions: the Standard rear-wheel drive, equipped with a 60 kWh battery offering a 500 km WLTP-certified range, and the Long-range rear-wheel drive, which has a 75 kWh battery, delivering up to 622 km range. Tesla is prioritizing deliveries for customers in cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram, with direct home delivery on flat-bed trucks. The company has also updated its website to facilitate vehicle registration across all states and union territories, extending its reach. The Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature is presented as an optional extra for Rs 6 lakh on the website, though its introduction in India is slated for a later time. The Model Y’s launch also marks the debut of Tesla’s dedicated India website, signaling the company’s dedication to growth in the Indian market, despite obstacles related to EV policies and infrastructure.
