Tesla is rapidly expanding its presence in the Indian electric vehicle sector. The company is preparing to unveil its second retail center in India. The new Tesla Experience Centre is scheduled to open on August 11th at the WorldMark 3 campus in Aerocity, Delhi, serving customers in the National Capital Region, a key area for electric vehicle adoption. This expansion closely follows the opening of Tesla’s first showroom, located in Mumbai’s Maker Maxity Mall, which launched on July 15th. The Mumbai launch was attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He welcomed Tesla to the state and encouraged the company to establish R&D and manufacturing facilities. The Aerocity center is nearing the final stages of construction. The monthly rent for the new location is estimated to be approximately Rs 25 lakh. Photos of the outlet have already been shared on social media, indicating the brand’s premium identity. Currently, Tesla offers only the Model Y in India, with prices starting at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The Model Y comes in two versions: a Standard rear-wheel drive model, featuring a 60 kWh battery and a 500 km WLTP-certified range; and a Long-range rear-wheel drive option, equipped with a 75 kWh battery that offers a range of up to 622 km. Tesla is prioritizing deliveries to customers in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram, with direct home delivery using flat-bed trucks. Tesla has also updated its website to allow for vehicle registration across all states and union territories in India, widening its reach. The Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature is listed as an optional extra costing Rs 6 lakh on the website, although it is not yet available in India. The Model Y launch also represents the launch of Tesla’s India website, which underscores the company’s dedication to expanding its operations in India, even amidst challenges linked to EV policy and infrastructure.
