Shah Rukh Khan, the ‘King Khan’ of Bollywood, is currently in the news. He has been awarded his first National Film Award, a significant achievement in his 33-year career. Shah Rukh is also recognized as one of the richest actors in Bollywood, with a net worth estimated to be 7500 crore rupees, surpassing the wealth of both Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. Beyond his acting career, Shah Rukh is also known for his passion for luxury cars. His current collection is valued at over 30 crore rupees and includes a range of expensive and high-end vehicles. However, the actor’s first car was a stark contrast to the luxury cars he owns today.
Reports suggest that Shah Rukh Khan’s inaugural car purchase was a Maruti Omni, which was the original generation model. The Maruti Omni, also known as the Maruti Van, was a microvan produced by Maruti Suzuki. It was initially introduced as the Maruti Van in 1984 and later renamed Omni in 1988.
Why the Omni Was Special
The Omni was powered by a 796cc engine sourced from the Maruti 800. The vehicle was widely popular in India, particularly for its practicality in transporting goods and as an ambulance. However, its production was discontinued in 2019 due to safety regulations. A key feature of the Omni was its unique engine placement, which was located in the middle at the front. Furthermore, the rear-wheel-drive system provided increased cabin and storage space, along with improved handling.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Current Car Collection
Today, Shah Rukh Khan, celebrated as the King Khan of Bollywood, owns a diverse collection of luxury cars, estimated to be worth over 30 crore rupees. His collection features models such as the Bugatti Veyron, Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe, and Bentley Continental GT. Other vehicles in his garage include a BMW i8, a Mercedes Benz S500, and a Lexus LM350h.
