A SpiceJet passenger had an unpleasant experience during a flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru, as they were locked inside the plane’s lavatory throughout the journey. The airline has expressed its regret and has reportedly offered the passenger compensation for the stressful experience, which has become a talking point online.
After the flight landed, the passenger was rescued when the ground crew and engineers were able to unlock the malfunctioning toilet. The incident reportedly happened on a Monday night flight, which was delayed by two hours before departing from Mumbai.
The passenger, who was in seat 14D, entered the restroom shortly after takeoff. The door’s locking mechanism failed, resulting in the passenger being trapped. The crew attempted to open the door but were unsuccessful. The crew then came up with a unique solution by slipping a handwritten note under the door, asking the passenger to remain calm and stay seated on the toilet until the plane landed in Bengaluru.
The image of the note quickly circulated on social media, drawing reactions ranging from amusement to admiration for the handwriting. The flight arrived in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM. The airline has since offered an apology to the passenger for the ordeal.
