The Triumph Thruxton 400 is scheduled to launch in India on August 6, entering the cafe racer segment. This motorcycle will join the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X models. These motorcycles have already established Triumph’s presence in the entry-level premium segment.
The Thruxton 400 will be the third model built on Triumph’s 400cc platform, which was developed with Bajaj Auto. When it launches, it will compete against bikes such as the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450.
The Thruxton 400 is expected to share the same 398cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. This engine provides 39.5 bhp of power and 37.5 nm of torque and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. It is possible that the Thruxton 400’s engine will be slightly retuned to improve its sporty performance and throttle response.
The Speed 400 is priced at ₹2.40 lakh and the Scrambler 400X at ₹2.65 lakh (ex-showroom). Due to the Thruxton 400’s premium styling and positioning, it may be priced around ₹2.80 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most expensive 400cc model from Triumph in India.
Spy photos of the Triumph Thruxton 400 have been seen online, showing its retro, stylish, and distinctly British design. It is anticipated to have a front fairing design reminiscent of fighter jets. It will likely have a round LED headlight, which contributes to its powerful look. The Thruxton 400 should offer a sporty riding position with low-set clip-on handlebars and slightly rear-set footpegs, which is expected of a cafe racer motorcycle.
