TVS has secured a patent for a new scooter design, igniting speculation about its features and potential for electric vehicle (EV) technology. The new scooter, likely the TVS X, is anticipated to be an improved version of the existing i-Qube, with a planned launch in fiscal year 2026. The upcoming models are slated to be global products, manufactured in India for export.
Recent patent filings, specifically in Indonesia, have provided a detailed look at the scooter’s design. The design appears to be traditional. Key features include a standard headlight, side-mounted grab rails at the rear, horizontal LED DRLs, and LED indicators. These design elements are reminiscent of the i-Qube.
Possible features include an under-seat battery placement and a tall windscreen. Patent images also suggest a small glovebox and a charging port. The rear hub design, with a belt drive, points towards the potential for a mid-mounted motor driving the rear wheel.
Although TVS has not released official statements regarding the patent details, the belt drive configuration suggests the potential for an EV. It is also possible that an ICE model will be offered.
