TVS is getting ready to enter the affordable electric scooter market in India. The ‘Orbiter’ name has been trademarked, and a production version is nearing its launch. Scheduled to be unveiled on August 28th, the TVS Orbiter will be priced competitively, sitting below the current TVS iQube.
The iQube is currently priced from approximately ₹1 lakh to ₹1.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The Orbiter, being positioned as the entry-level model, is expected to cost under ₹1 lakh. This will put it in direct competition with the Bajaj Chetak and Ola S1 X.
The launch coincides with the Indian festive season, which could help to boost sales. The festive season is traditionally a period of high sales for vehicle manufacturers in the Indian market. TVS is looking forward to capitalizing on this with the new scooter.
Design patents from Indonesia hint at a premium look for the Orbiter. The sketches show a sleek design with large wheels and a swingarm-mounted motor. Key features include LED daytime running lights, square LED headlights, LED tail lights, a visor, a dual-color paint theme, and front disc brakes. The company has not officially confirmed whether this design is related to the Orbiter.
