
The Toyota Innova celebrates its 20th anniversary in the Indian market, a milestone for the popular MPV. This model has established itself as a leader in the premium MPV segment and a top seller for Toyota. Its widespread adoption has helped Toyota gain a distinct presence in India. The Innova has been purchased by over 1.2 million people, thanks to its many appealing attributes.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has achieved sales of more than 1.2 million units. The VP of Sales and Service for Used Car Business at Toyota Kirloskar Motor highlighted the strong customer loyalty built over the past two decades.
The Innova has seen three major updates since its initial launch. The first model was constructed on a ladder-frame chassis, replacing the Qualis. In 2016, the Innova Crysta was introduced, featuring updated design elements, new engines, and a wider array of features. The 2022 launch of the Innova Hycross brought a monocoque platform, a front-wheel-drive setup, and a self-charging hybrid powertrain. The Hycross combines a 2.0-liter petrol engine with an electric motor and an e-CVT gearbox, offering exceptional mileage. By November 2024, the Hycross had sold over 100,000 units.
The Innova is a vital part of Toyota’s strategy in India, enjoying popularity among both private and commercial customers. Its continuous improvements in safety, comfort, and emissions standards have aligned it with the evolving demands of the Indian automotive sector. The Innova Crysta starts at INR 19.99 lakh ex-showroom for the base model, with the top model priced up to INR 27.18 lakh. The Innova Hycross is priced between INR 19.14 lakh and INR 32.58 lakh ex-showroom. Mileage figures depend on the powertrain. The petrol variant delivers 16.13 km/liter, while the strong hybrid version achieves up to 23.24 km/liter. The Crysta’s 2.7L petrol manual variant achieves 11.5 km/liter, though real-world figures range from 8 to 9.5 km/liter. The 2.4L diesel manual variant achieves 15.1 km/liter, with practical mileage between 12.5 and 14 km/liter.
