Volkswagen is shifting its approach to vehicle naming, integrating its ICE car names into its electric ID. series, offering customers a straightforward choice between petrol/diesel and electric models. The Volkswagen ID. Polo, derived from the ID. 2all concept, will be the first to embody this strategy, with a global launch scheduled for 2026. The ID. Polo GTI is also planned to debut. The initial reveal of both models will occur at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, held from September 8th to 14th. The design of the Volkswagen ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI is designed to be stylish and modern, featuring design elements like colorful camouflage, sporty alloy wheels, prominent wheel arches, customized bumpers, a front diffuser, and a split spoiler. These vehicles will utilize the MEB Entry platform, with dimensions of 4,053mm in length, 1,816mm in width, and 1,530mm in height. Though specific engine specifications are still under wraps, the ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI are anticipated to have a single electric motor and a front-wheel-drive (FWD) system, potentially producing up to 223bhp. A Club Sport performance version may follow. Furthermore, Volkswagen will introduce the ID. CROSS concept on September 7, 2025, an electric version of the T-Cross SUV, with a projected market launch by the end of 2026. The new ID. series cars will prioritize quality, incorporating soft-touch materials, a balance of digital and physical controls, and a user-friendly operating system.
