In a startling incident, a truck collided with the convoy of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in Vaishali, Bihar, on Saturday morning. The accident happened near Goraul while Yadav was returning to Patna after attending a political gathering in Madhepura.
The convoy had paused for a short tea break along the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway around 12:30 AM. Tejashwi Yadav was a few feet away from the vehicles when a speeding truck crashed into the stationary cars carrying his security personnel. Fortunately, Yadav’s personal vehicle was not hit, and he emerged unharmed.
However, the impact caused injuries to three security officials who were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Tejashwi Yadav later visited the injured, inquiring about their well-being. The injured officials are now in stable condition, although they suffered from bruises and minor fractures.
The truck driver was apprehended at the scene by the local police, and his vehicle was seized. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Initial reports suggest the driver may have been speeding or drowsy, but the investigation is still ongoing.
This accident has once again highlighted concerns about the safety of political figures on Bihar’s roads, especially during late-night travel. RJD supporters expressed relief and gratitude on social media, while others urged for improved road safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic rules.
Party leaders have called for a comprehensive review of the security protocols for VIPs traveling by road, taking into account factors like poor visibility and the prevalence of reckless driving.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his busy political schedule and frequent travels across Bihar, has resumed his normal activities and assured his supporters that he is safe and unaffected.
