A truck struck the convoy of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in Vaishali district on Saturday morning. The incident occurred near Goraul as Yadav was returning to Patna after a political event in Madhepura.
Reports indicate that the convoy had stopped for a short tea break on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway around 12:30 AM. While Yadav was a few meters away, the speeding truck collided with two of his security vehicles. Fortunately, his personal vehicle was not hit, and he was unharmed.
Three security personnel were injured in the accident and promptly taken to a nearby hospital. Tejashwi Yadav visited the injured officials, inquiring about their health. The injured officials are now in stable condition, though they suffered various injuries.
The truck driver was arrested at the scene, and the truck has been impounded. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. Some reports suggest that speeding or driver fatigue may have been factors.
The incident has sparked discussions about the safety of political figures during long-distance travel in Bihar, particularly at night. RJD supporters expressed relief and emphasized the need for better road safety measures. Party leaders have called for a comprehensive review of VIP security protocols for road travel.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his active political life and frequent road travel, has resumed his activities and assured his supporters that he is safe.
