Let us tell you that Fire Service Day is celebrated every year on 14th April, on this occasion an awareness march program was started from Tikrapara police station of Raipur today. Fire department officials dispatched fire tenders from Tikrapara police station to the city and also gave safety messages to the general public regarding the causes of fire.

Let us tell you that on April 14, 1944, a cargo ship named Fortsticken, which was loaded with cotton bales, explosive materials and war equipment, was moored at Mumbai port and suddenly a terrible fire broke out. Mumbai fire brigade personnel were continuously trying to extinguish the fire.

While extinguishing the fire, there was a massive explosion due to the presence of explosive material in the ship and in this fire, 66 firefighters of the fire brigade were martyred after coming under the fire. Fire Service Day is celebrated every year on 14 April in the memory of these brave fire fighters.
