
Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has paid a touching tribute to the late Kamini Kaushal, a celebrated actress who passed away at 98. In a blog post, Bachchan described the loss as deeply personal, referring to Kaushal as a ‘dear family friend’ and a legendary artist who significantly shaped the film industry. He recalled a cherished past, mentioning that her family and his mother’s family were close-knit friends in pre-partition Punjab. Bachchan highlighted the special bond, noting that Kaushal’s elder sister was a university contemporary of his mother, fostering a ‘joyous bunch of like-minded friends.’ The megastar expressed that the passing of such a ‘pleasant, warm, affectionate and talented artist’ marks the end of an era. His message was filled with condolences and prayers for Kaushal’s family, reflecting a profound sadness at the passing of another luminary. Kamini Kaushal had a remarkable career, acting in over 70 films across seven decades. She starred opposite many of Hindi cinema’s greatest stars and made a groundbreaking debut with ‘Neecha Nagar,’ an award-winning film at the first Cannes Film Festival. Her last film was ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ in 2022. The actress was laid to rest on Saturday in a private ceremony attended by her loved ones, with her elder son performing the traditional rituals.
