Aryan Khan’s debut, ‘The Bads of Bollywood,’ is making headlines. The series, masterminded by Shah Rukh Khan’s son, has captured interest due to alleged allusions to a past drug-related controversy. Aryan was previously arrested in connection to a drug case, though later exonerated.
Reports suggest that the series may make a humorous reference to Sameer Wankhede, the former Narcotics Control Bureau officer who led the investigation that resulted in Aryan’s arrest. This reference has generated widespread reactions from viewers.
The cast includes Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, and Vijayant Kohli. Guest appearances are planned with Rajat Bedi, Gautami Kapoor, and in cameo roles, Rajkummar Rao, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, Aamir Khan, SS Rajamouli, Karan Johar, Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh. Further Bollywood stars may appear in the show.
The story of ‘The Bads of Bollywood’ centres on Aasmaan Singh (Lakshya), who is a fresh face in Bollywood. Bobby Deol plays a prominent role in Hindi cinema, and Aasmaan’s character has a romantic relationship with the character’s daughter. The narrative probes the struggles and pressures of maintaining success in the film industry.
Sharing his vision, Aryan Khan noted, “With The Ba***ds of Bollywood, I wanted to build a world that feels alive, a mix of glitz and grit, where ambition shines, egos clash, and nothing is ever as it seems. In Netflix, we found a partner who shared our creative vision—helping us tell the story exactly how it needed to be told, raw, stylised, and something the world has never experienced before.”
Produced by Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment, ‘The Bads of Bollywood’ has Bonnie Jain and Akshat Verma as executive producers. The show was created and directed by Aryan Khan, in collaboration with Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan, who co-wrote the script.
