The film ‘Kingdom,’ starring Vijay Deverakonda, has entered theaters, attempting to overcome previous less successful projects. The action-packed spy thriller, released on July 31, started off strongly in its theatrical run with impressive figures, attracting largely positive reviews. However, the film’s performance is now wavering.
On its opening day, ‘Kingdom’ earned Rs 18 crore. The Telugu version contributed Rs 17.25 crore, while the Tamil version earned Rs 0.75 crore. Collections dropped significantly on the second day (Friday) by 58.33%, bringing in Rs 7.5 crore. A slight improvement was noted on Day 3 (Saturday), with earnings of Rs 8 crore. Early projections for Day 4 (Sunday) estimate a collection of Rs 7 crore. The film’s cumulative box office total stands at Rs 40.5 crore after its first weekend.
The film’s earnings have yet to surpass those of ‘Liger,’ Vijay’s post-pandemic pan-India release in 2022, which achieved a total of Rs 41.17 crore.
Vijay Deverakonda plays Surya, a secret agent in ‘Kingdom.’ He is sent on a dangerous mission that leads to him being trapped and imprisoned. He unexpectedly develops relationships with those he was assigned to take down. The creators of ‘Kingdom’ aimed for a grand scale, which stemmed from the compelling setting and personal narrative within the context of war.
‘Kingdom’ is produced by S Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. The cast includes Bhagyashri Borse, Satyadev, and Manish Chaudhary.
