A case of alleged fraud, amounting to ₹60 crore, has been filed against Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra. The complaint, filed at the Juhu Police Station in Mumbai, also includes an unknown individual. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is handling the investigation. The case is related to a loan and investment deal associated with Best Deal TV Private Limited, a company that is no longer operational.
Businessman Deepak Kothari alleges that he provided over ₹60.48 crore for business expansion between 2015 and 2023. Kothari stated he was introduced to Shetty and Kundra via an agent, Rajesh Arya, in 2015, when they were directors of the online shopping platform Best Deal TV. Kothari alleges the funds were used for personal expenses, and that Shetty provided a personal guarantee in April 2016, before resigning as a company director in September of the same year.
