After their successful work on ‘Amar Singh Chamkila,’ Imtiaz Ali and Diljit Dosanjh are set to collaborate again for a new film. The project promises to be a heartfelt story of love and longing, and is scheduled to hit theaters on Baisakhi in 2026. Filming is slated to begin in August 2025.
Alongside Diljit Dosanjh, the film will feature Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari. The project also brings together the creative team of A.R. Rahman, Irshad Kamil, and Imtiaz Ali.
Imtiaz Ali cited a poem by Momin to describe the project: “’Tum mere paas hote ho goya, Jab koi doosra nahin hota’ (‘You are with me, however, When there is no one else’).”
The film is described as a story of a boy and a girl, but also a country. The director said, “Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart? This film has a big heart. It has a large canvas, yet is very personal. It is a story of a boy and a girl, but also a country. Wish us well as we dive into the currents of this dynamic story, we hope to emerge next year with a touching cinematic experience in a theatre near you.”
Imtiaz Ali is also working on ‘O Saathi Re’ with Netflix, starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary, and Arjun Rampal. The project is described by the makers as “an ode to the vintage feeling of love in contemporary times.”
