The investigation into a drug case has led to the detention of Tamil actor Krishna, who is now in police custody, following the earlier arrest of actor Srikanth. Krishna’s name was implicated in the ongoing probe. Police interrogated Krishna for over 17 hours, scrutinizing his financial transactions, phone records, and potential associations with an individual connected to the AIADMK party. The investigation gained momentum after drug supplier Pradeep’s arrest, who implicated Krishna, claiming he supplied drugs to a former member of the AIADMK’s IT wing.
Krishna, whose father is a senior producer and whose brother directed films like ‘Billa’ and ‘Arambham’, started acting in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Anjali’. He later appeared in films such as ‘Iruvar’ and ‘The Terrorist’. After gaining experience in the corporate world, he returned to acting in the film ‘Alibaba’ in 2008. Krishna is noted for his performances in films like ‘Kazhugu,’ ‘Yaamirukka Bayamey,’ ‘Vanavarayan Vallavarayan,’ ‘Pandigai,’ ‘Vizhithiru,’ and ‘Yakkai’. He gained further recognition through his roles in ‘Maari 2’ and ‘Kazhugu 2’. His Malayalam film debut, ‘Picasso’, is now uncertain due to the current investigation.
His personal life includes a divorce in 2014 and a subsequent marriage in June 2025. The case against Srikanth prompted the investigation to focus on Krishna, leading to his detention. He allegedly attempted to evade authorities by traveling to Kerala but was apprehended. Police are meticulously reviewing his financial dealings and contacts. A key piece of evidence is the statement from drug supplier Prashanth, who claimed Srikanth bought cocaine during a film shoot and that Srikanth and Krishna used drugs together at various parties in Chennai.
