**Storyline:**
The movie tells the story of Laura, a devoted childcare worker whose life is turned upside down by the sudden and tragic death of her daughter. Consumed by grief and unable to move on, Laura’s sorrow transforms into a dark obsession. Hoping to alleviate her pain, she opens her isolated countryside home to foster children, becoming a temporary guardian to a group of orphans. Among them are teenage twins Andy and Piper, who are still dealing with the loss of their parents, and a young, withdrawn girl who rarely speaks and hides behind a vacant stare.
At first, Laura seems gentle and caring, her home appearing quiet and peaceful. However, the children quickly realize that something is not right. Doors creak on their own, whispers echo from dark corners, and Laura’s behavior shifts from caring to unsettlingly erratic, especially after sunset.
As the twins become accustomed to their new surroundings, they begin to sense a darkness lurking beneath Laura’s sadness. One night, they stumble upon a hidden room and witness something they should never have seen: a disturbing ritual in progress, with Laura chanting incantations over a deteriorating shrine. At its center are remnants of her deceased daughter’s belongings.
Horrified, Andy and Piper realize the truth: Laura hasn’t simply been grieving. She’s been waiting, preparing, and planning for a resurrection. The silent orphan girl is not just quiet; she is a participant in the ceremony, a placeholder, a vessel. And now, because her ritual hasn’t worked, Laura believes she needs a greater sacrifice.
