War 2, a highly anticipated film slated for release in 2025, is set to hit theaters on August 14th. The movie features Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, making it a notable event for fans. There is considerable speculation regarding the film’s opening day box office performance.
Pre-release ticket sales indicate strong interest. By August 13th at 5 PM, over 111,000 tickets had been sold across PVR INOX and Cinepolis for the opening day. Projections suggest that this number could increase to 175,000 tickets before the movie’s premiere. Estimates point toward an opening day collection of 30 to 35 crore rupees in the Hindi-speaking market.
However, War 2 faces competition in the Tamil market from Rajinikanth’s Kuli, which is also releasing on August 14th. While War 2 has performed well in advance bookings in Hindi, Kuli has seen remarkable success in Tamil.
According to Sacnilk’s data from August 13th at 6 PM, Kuli had sold 1,113,72 tickets in Tamil, whereas War 2 sold 8,310 tickets. The popularity of Rajinikanth in Tamil Nadu explains the higher ticket sales for his film. Kuli is also ahead of War 2 in Telugu, even though Jr. NTR, a Telugu cinema superstar, stars in War 2.
As of August 13th at 6 PM, War 2 had sold 271,364 tickets in Telugu, while Kuli had booked 287,644 tickets. Across India, War 2 ticket sales reached 517,356, compared to 1,440,621 for Kuli.
Sumit Kadel, a trade analyst, has offered his insights on War 2’s performance. He predicts a net collection of 28 to 32 crore rupees in Hindi on the opening day, which could climb to 35 crore based on favorable reviews. Kadel also estimates a pan-India collection of 50 to 55 crore rupees, including Tamil and Telugu, and a worldwide gross of 90 to 100 crore rupees.
