
The Indian film industry witnessed a massive box office clash on August 14, 2025, as ‘War 2’ and ‘Coolie’ premiered. Both films, highly anticipated by audiences, enjoyed strong opening weekends. However, as the week progressed, both movies experienced a notable decrease in their box office earnings.
‘War 2’ featuring Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani, saw an opening day collection of Rs 52 crore. The film performed well on its second day, earning Rs 57.35 crore. However, the weekend saw a decline, with Rs 33.25 crore earned on Saturday and Rs 32.15 crore on Sunday. A significant drop was recorded on Day 5 (Monday), with estimated earnings of only Rs 8.50 crore. Despite this decline, the film has amassed a total of Rs 183.25 crore within its first five days.
The film ‘War 2’ brought back Hrithik Roshan as Agent Kabir with NTR Jr. joining the cast as Agent Vikram.
Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ also performed well on its opening day, collecting Rs 65 crore. The film’s second day earnings were Rs 54.75 crore. By Sunday, collections reached Rs 35.25 crore, but Monday saw a significant drop, with estimates reporting Rs 12 crore. Overall, ‘Coolie’ has earned Rs 206.50 crore in its first five days.
The film’s plot revolves around Deva, a former gold smuggler, who seeks to regain his past glory by reviving his old gang with stolen technology hidden in vintage golden watches. The cast includes Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy and Kaali Venkat. Aamir Khan appears in a cameo role, and the film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures.
