The Independence Day special episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 17’ was a landmark event. The show featured three remarkable women: Colonel Sofia Qureshi from the Indian Army, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh from the Indian Air Force, and Commander Prerna Deosthali from the Indian Navy.
During the KBC episode, these three brave women not only shared their inspiring stories of courage and valor but also performed exceptionally well in the quiz, winning ₹25 lakhs. Their impressive run brought them to the ₹50 lakh question, however, time constraints caused Amitabh Bachchan to conclude the game.
The final question posed to the participants was a stimulating one. The question asked was: ‘The ‘Arch of Remembrance’ in Leicester, England, was designed by the same person who designed which of these Indian monuments?’ The options were: A) Victoria Memorial, B) Gateway of India, C) Fort St. George, D) India Gate. The trio used the audience poll lifeline. The correct answer was ‘India Gate’ (Option D).
The ‘Arch of Remembrance’ in Leicester, England, was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, who also designed India Gate in Delhi.
Although the women did not win ₹50 lakhs, they created a new history by winning ₹25 lakhs. For the first time in KBC history, three female officers from the Indian Army sat on the hot seat and talked to Amitabh Bachchan. They shared stories of their bravery and spoke about women’s empowerment and the role of women in the army. They will donate the ₹25 lakhs won on the show to their institutions’ welfare funds.
