Actor Bobby Deol recently offered a glimpse into his childhood, highlighting the profound warmth and unity experienced within his joint family. A particularly touching revelation was his practice of sleeping alongside his parents until the age of 14, an experience he fondly recalls as a blessing.
Deol elaborated on how growing up in a sprawling joint family meant that personal space was often shared amongst many. This communal living, combined with his strong attachment to his parents, naturally extended his sleeping arrangements with them. He believes such close-knit family living is a common and cherished aspect of Indian culture.
The actor also shared an endearing quirk inherited from his father, Dharmendra: the habit of keeping a light on while sleeping. Dharmendra’s preference for not sleeping in total darkness led Bobby to adopt the same practice. Even now, he uses a night light, a habit that his wife sometimes finds amusing but which remains a comforting ritual tied to his past.
He recounted instances where his mother would encourage him to sleep with his brother, but his deep bond with his parents meant he often ended up back in their room. This flexibility in his sleeping arrangements, facilitated by his parents, speaks volumes about the supportive and loving environment of his youth. While he now sleeps independently, the influence of these shared moments remains significant.
