Comedian Kapil Sharma has received a stern warning from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) regarding the use of the term ‘Bombay’ on his Netflix show, ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show.’ The MNS has demanded that the show and its guests use the official name, Mumbai, going forward. Ameya Khopkar, representing the MNS film wing, expressed his concerns on social media, citing instances where ‘Bombay’ was used on the show. Khopkar highlighted that the city was officially renamed Mumbai three decades ago, yet the older term persists in entertainment. He emphasized that this is seen as a sign of disrespect. The MNS has stated that this stance is not influenced by any political events. Khopkar directly warned Kapil Sharma, emphasizing that he should respect the city and its people. The MNS has requested that the show’s team instruct guests and anchors to use ‘Mumbai.’ If the name is not corrected, the MNS will launch a strong agitation. The Great Indian Kapil Show, which began airing this year, features a cast of well-known comedians.
