
The Malayalam movie ‘Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra,’ a superhero film, presents a compelling story. It centers on a young woman who develops mystical skills while navigating personal challenges, eventually utilizing her powers to combat evil. The film has experienced an enthusiastic response from viewers and has achieved impressive financial results in its first week.
‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ showed a consistent performance at the box office during its first week. The film debuted with ₹2.7 crore on Day 1 (Thursday) and showcased substantial growth over the weekend, accumulating ₹4 crore on Day 2 (Friday), ₹7.6 crore on Day 3 (Saturday), and peaking at ₹10.1 crore on Day 4 (Sunday).
While the figures moderately decreased during the weekdays, with ₹7.2 crore on Day 5 (Monday), the film rebounded with ₹7.65 crore on Day 6 (Tuesday) before dropping to roughly ₹6.75 crore on Day 7 (Wednesday, early estimates). By the end of its initial week, ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ had amassed a total of ₹46 crore, enjoying robust performance across the Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu markets.
‘Lokah Chapter 1’ combines Indian folklore, contemporary sci-fi, and horror, serving as the inaugural film in the Wayfarer Cinematic Universe (WCU). The cast features Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslen, Sandy, alongside Arun Kurian, Chandu Salimkumar, Nishanth Sagar, Raghunath Paleri, Vijayaraghavan, Nithya Shri, and Sarath Sabha.
The official announcement regarding the film’s OTT release partner has not yet been made. Speculations suggest that ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ will be accessible on Netflix after its theatrical release, similar to Dulquer Salmaan’s previously produced films, ‘Kurup’ and ‘Maniyarayile Ashokan,’ which were also released on Netflix.
