‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra,’ a Malayalam film, is currently receiving widespread acclaim and has resonated with audiences. Producer Dulquer Salmaan has recently discussed how his father, Mammootty, and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s father, Priyadarshan, were initially worried about the film’s potential outcome.
During a discussion with The Hollywood Reporter India, Dulquer stated that Priyadarshan questioned the decision to produce the film. Dulquer explained that he believed in the project’s concept, even if he was unsure of its success. His father, the veteran actor Mammootty, also voiced concerns. However, their anxieties have since been replaced by pride.
Kalyani Priyadarshan shared that her father’s first message after the film’s success was a reminder to stay humble and not let success go to her head. She emphasized that this message is a constant reminder.
In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kalyani commended Dulquer Salmaan for backing a project like ‘Lokah.’ She highlighted the courage involved in dedicating resources to a unique film. She believes that initiatives like this make Malayalam cinema distinct, and she sees Dulquer as a risk-taker, following in the footsteps of his and her parents.
Regarding its OTT release, the official streaming partner is yet to be announced. However, according to Indiatimes, ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ is expected to be available on Netflix after its theatrical release. Dulquer Salmaan’s prior productions, ‘Kurup’ and ‘Maniyarayile Ashokan,’ were also released on Netflix.
