The final season of the hit Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’ is on the horizon, but whispers of alleged on-set discord between lead actors Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour have captured public attention. The show’s creators have stepped in to address these reports.
Speculation arose following a UK tabloid’s claim that Millie Bobby Brown had accused David Harbour of bullying and harassment prior to the commencement of filming for the show’s fifth and final season. While the allegations did not pertain to sexual misconduct, reports indicated that Netflix conducted a multi-month investigation into the claims. It was also suggested that Brown had a personal representative with her during filming.
Despite the swirling rumors, both Brown and Harbour appeared amicable and posed together at the Season 5 world premiere in Los Angeles. When questioned about the allegations, co-creator Ross Duffer opted not to delve into “personal on-set matters.” However, he unequivocally stated that the cast, who have been together for a decade, are considered family and that their well-being is paramount. “Nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy,” he assured.
Fellow executive producer and director Shawn Levy reinforced the sentiment. He described establishing a secure and respectful work environment as fundamental to their role. “We’re proud of the fact that we did so,” Levy commented, referencing the efforts made to ensure comfort and safety on set. He also acknowledged the volume of inaccurate stories circulating, reaffirming the cast and crew’s familial dynamic and mutual respect.
No official statements have been issued by Netflix or the representatives of Brown and Harbour regarding these claims. The upcoming Season 5 is one of the most anticipated releases for Netflix, marking the end of the globally popular science fiction series that began airing in 2016.
