Rohan Sippy’s ‘Search: The Naina Murder Case’ stands out for its ability to captivate viewers, forcing them to disconnect from external distractions. At its heart is Konkona Sen Sharma, who delivers a commanding performance as ACP Sanyukta Das, a detective balancing a demanding career with personal challenges. Just as she prepares for a quieter role, a shocking murder case pulls her back into the fray. The series expertly unfolds the mystery, hinting at connections to influential figures and adding the urgency of the victim’s parents’ own investigation. The narrative is tight and propulsive, revealing clues with the precision of a classic whodunnit. Sharma excels in her role, embodying the struggles of a working mother and a dedicated police officer. Surya Sharma also shines as the eager, movie-buff cop, Jai Kanwal. The series is further elevated by the raw emotion brought by Iravati Harshe and Sagar Deshmukh as the bereaved parents. However, ‘Search’ falters in its latter half, succumbing to the trend of unresolved cliffhangers and drawn-out plotting, ultimately undermining the solid groundwork laid in its initial episodes.
